I am completely obsessed with handbags and I have been for my entire life. I thank my DNA, both my Mum and her Mum share this obsession. Having such an obsession means that I change my bags A LOT so treat this like a disclaimer. This is what my handbag looks like today, tomorrow it will probably be different, however whenever I use this specific bag this is what is in it...Oh and I guess I should mention the actual bag too! This is what I carry around with me when I use my small Longchamp Le Pliage.
Mimco Mesh Mash Wallet - I adore the matte mesh on this wallet. I had always admired the original Mimco mesh but it was too bling for me to use everyday, even though you can't see the true matteness of the wallet in the pic, it is definitely matte!
Rubi Bag Tassle - Tassle keyrings seem to be "the thing" at the moment. I didn't want to splurge on one of the super nice (but super expensive) ones because it is just a keyring at the end of the day. This one was $6.95 :) Top Tip: Buy a colourful keyring that is large or has something dangly you can feel it when you are groping around in your bag, because you know...your keys are never going to be easily found!
Nivea Lip Balm, Vitamin Shake 'Cranberry & Raspberry' - There is always a lip balm or three in my bag! This one is my current fave, it smells so nice.
Mac Lustre Lipstick in 'Syrup' - This is definitely the lipstick I wore the most in 2015! As it is a colour I can pretty much wear wherever and whenever it is pretty much always in my handbag :)
Headphones - I keep my headphones untangled by using a bulldog clip! So much easier and less embarrassing than having to detangle them everytime I pull them out of my bag.
Typo A5 Weekly Buffalo Diary - I'll be the first to admit my memory is not that great! So a diary is a necessity. Last year I tried relying on the calendar on my phone and whilst I LOVE how it syncs between my laptop and iPad I have always been a stationary lover so this year I am using a paper diary properly again. It is also a good excuse to buy pretty pens!
Kikki K Metal Rollerbal Pen: Don't Follow Your Dreams, Chase them - This pen is so cute I couldn't leave it behind in the shop. I love how sturdy and special this pen feels.
Mimco Stand Case - Sometimes I don't want to take a bag out (ironic considering the premise of this post!) so this is fantastic because it protects my phone and also provides me with a place to slip in some money and cards.
Crabtree & Evenlyn Sugar & Spice Ultra-Moisturising Hand Therapy - There is always a hand cream floating around the bottom of my handbag. This Christmas hand cream from Crabtree & Evelyn smells amazing and is a great hand cream. It sinks in quickly and moisturises lovely.
And the usual suspects: Stray hair ties, hand sanitiser. Not much to say here...
Today I am kicking off a new weekly series, the 'Discovering' series. Each week there will be a different theme. In the coming weeks there will be posts on podcasts, day trips, and handbags for uni. If you have a suggestion please let me know and I would love to know what you think of this new series :) Anyway, back to what's hot on the box at the moment!
Broadchurch Season 2
Last week season 2 of Broadchurch began. Having only seen the first two episodes (obviously) it seems a little preemptive to say this but...I think it is might be even better than season 1!!! You have only missed two episodes so if you loved season 1, tune into ABC on Sunday night at 8:30pm. You can catch-up with the first two episodes on ABC iview I dare say! I really enjoyed season 1, did you? If you have never heard of Broadcurch before, it is an English crime drama starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman. In season 1 we saw the effect that the murder of a young boy had on the community. In season 2 we continue to see the effects that the murder investigation had on the small community, and follow the trial of the accused murderer. There is another new storyline being weaved into season 2 as well. I am absolutely dreadful at describing things so even if Broadchurch doesn't sound that great to you, it is probably just my inability to describe it properly. I love how they do things and go places with the show that other more generic crime dramas don't. I don't want to spoil anything though so that is all I am saying on the topic.
How to Get Away with Murder
Now onto some new television shows. How to get away with murder has started on chanel 7 and so far it has me hooked. Since the advertisements started for it months ago I thought I might like it. But I didn't realise it would be this unique. I feel like a lot of crime shows are identical but this one is quite unique and keeps you guessing, all the time. The show follows a criminal law professor / criminal defence lawyer and her law students. Together they build cases for their clients. Oh and did I forget to mention a group of her students have committed a murder and are trying to get away with it. We don't know yet who murdered who or what happened, but we are slowly learning about the murder through flashbacks.
Forever
Another new show on our screens this February is Forever. The protagonist of the show is a New York medical examiner who is immortal. Forever includes the typical police procedural type of plots and also follows the protagonist as he tries to discover why he is immortal.
What television shows are you loving at the moment? I would love to know...I am a tv junkie!
Cheers
Happy Australia Day everybody! I'm going to share with you some of my favourite Australian things across a range of categories: beauty, fashion, and music.
Fashion
One of my favourite clothing stores is Dotti. Founded in 1981 in Sydney, there are Dotti stores all over Australia and New Zealand. Some of my favourite and most worn clothes are from Dotti.
Top left: Feather printed maxi dress; brought over 3 years ago and I still wear this dress once a week during the summer months. I either wear it with flats during the day or if I'm heading into the city for dinner I often throw a blazer on and some heels. I think it is always important to have a piece of clothing you can rely on, wherever and whenever you are going. Perfect for those "I have nothing to wear" days.
Bottom left: Shift Dress; I love love love the print on this shift dress. It's great for summer days/nights with or without a blazer and is also a great option for those Melbourne, 4 seasons in 1 day, days - with tights and boots.
Bottom right: Palm Print Top; I picked this up for $10 (originally $50) and usually wear it with jeans and a blazer. Perfection?!
Mimco is one of my most recent obsessions. Their leather handbags are gorgeous and their accessories are addictive. Especially their pouches.
Peter Alexander make pyjamas, but not any ordinary pyjamas! I am a lover of prints and during their recent Boxing Day sales (which were amazing) I wanted to buy one of everything. Last winter they released a pair of pants covered in nail polish bottles - perfect for a nail polish blogger, hey?
Beauty
My favourite Australian beauty brands are Face of Australia, OmShe, and Natio. Every year Face of Australia release a couple of limited edition collections of nail polish, which are always amazing. Their permanent line is also great. Their glossy lip crayons were the first lip crayons I ever tried and are still some of my favourites. Sure they don't last forever, but they are moisturising and their sheer pigmentation can be built up. omShe is an Aussie brand that uses natural ingredients and is one of my favourite Australian brands. Their nail polishes are 3-free and their lipsticks smell gorgeous and come in pretty golden tubes (I cannot resist gold packaging, please tell me I'm not the only one!!!). Natio is a brand that I have started looking at recently. They use 100% pure essential oil blends. So far my favourite products from them are their tinted lip balms. Music
One of my all-time favourite Australian bands is Savage Garden, and then when they split-up I became a fan of Darren Hayes when he went solo. One of my new discoveries is Busby Marou. Some of my favourite songs from their Farewell Fitzroy album are: 'My Second Mistake' and 'Luck'.
I have a penchant for vases, of all styles, sizes and shapes! They make the perfect last minute gift...who doesn't need a vase? Or you might be like me and be getting a little excited about the Boxing Day sales (which appear to have already started!) while plotting what bargains you want to snap up! Here are 10 vases under $100 that I think are lovely and great bargains.
The year is coming to an end and for many it signals the time of the year where one actually has time to pick up a book. These five books will captivate you and, trust me, you won't be able to put them
down!
Ice station by Matthew Reilly
From Matthew Reilly, an Australian action thriller writer, 'Ice Station' is the first novel of a series. Following the discovery of a secret object hidden deep in the ice of Antarctica a team of Marines are deployed. This novel has so many twists and turns and really plays with your emotions. In my mind I liken it to a blockbuster action movie.
Looking for Alaska by John Green
I picked this novel up two days ago and finished it today. I couldn't put it down! Sometimes I read "trashy" novels but this is a real "proper" novel - a great piece of literature. I don't want to spoil anything for you but I will say that it focuses on a group of teenagers at boarding school. Despite tragic events there is a bit of comedy and lots of heart strings being pulled too!
The Cuckoo's Calling & The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith (J.K Rowling)
Anyone who has read Harry Potter knows that J.K Rowling is a brilliant writer BUT to me what makes her even more admirable is her ability to move on from Harry Potter and begin writing another series, that in itself is gripping, and so different from out beloved Harry Potter. These two novels are right up my alley - being a crime fiction fan! They follow an ex-cop investigating crimes in London.
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
'Gone Girl' has received so much attention in the media this year, in addition to the movie that was released a couple of months ago, so I am not going to spend too much time on it. Chances are you have already heard quite a bit about it. If you still haven't read it, and you enjoy thrillers that centre around relationships, romance and a good old mystery, you should read the book! Talk about leaving a trail of breadcrumbs...oh boy! This book is filled with so many twists and turns that you still don't know what is really happening until the very last page of the book - or do you? I'm still not sure!!! Enough said...read the book!!! :)
Maybe I should have said this earlier but they were in no particular order. As a massive bookworm and an indecisive person it was tricky enough to select only five books...
I would love to know what books you haven't been able to put down, let me know in the comments below :) Thanks for reading and have a great day!
