Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Review - Greyfitti

A couple of months ago I raved on and on about the 'Dig Fig' shade from Sally Hansen's Miracle Gel collection of nail polishes. Today I am going to tell you all about another polish from the collection, the shade 'Greyfitti'. 'Greyfitti' is a beautiful pale grey. Whilst it has slight undertones of blue you definitely don't look at the polish and think it is blue...it is grey.

My proper camera is out of action so I apologise for this substandard photo. The polish looks way more amazing in real life...trust me!

The formula of this nail polish is a little thin and streaky on the first coat but all is resolved once you do your second coat. The formula itself was very easy to work with and apply. After applying those two coats I waited a couple of minutes and then applied the special top coat.......and then after that I put on my usual Insta-Dri Sally Hansen top coat. The extra top coat is not necessary though. These miracle gel polishes last really well and endure a lot! I can get easily a week out of these nail polishes before any noticeable wear starts appearing. Typically I only get 2-3 days out of a manicure.

I completely adore this nail polish and highly recommend it. It is a very versatile colour, has a great formula and lasts well. 

NOTD - Sally Hansen Gunmetal Nail Polish Review

On my nails today is Sally Hansen's 'Gunmetal' nail polish from their Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear range. This is the first nail polish I have brought from this particular range however I am already a huge fan of Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure range of polishes. 'Gunmetal' is a combination of a denim blue colour and a grey gunmetal colour. This polish is very shimmery. I absolutely adore this colour.

The formula of 'Gunmetal' is quite thin. Two coats were necessary for opaque colour. I'm notoriously bad at applying nail polishes with thin formulas as I find my coats are way too thick. Nonetheless drying time was reasonable. Despite the thin formula the polish applied relatively easily. For a shimmer polish I didn't find the formula to be too streaky. I applied Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri as a top coat.

Depending on the light (as always) this polish can look really blue and then when the sun is hiding you can see more of the gunmetal grey colour. My new favourite polish?!

Boogie Wonderland Accent Nail

Hi guys,
Face of Australia has recently released their Glitterati limited edition collection of polishes. The collection consists of 4 clear-based glitters and 3 milky glitters reminiscent of indie polishes. I'm not a huge glitter lover but I don't mind an accent nail! And if you apply a peel-off base coat removal is super easy and fun too!!!!! Remember when you were a kid and you were put PVA glue over your fingers and peel it off?

Anyway, today I have for  you a manicure using Rimmel London's Grey Matter and the accent nail is Boogie Wonderland. Boogie Wonderland is amazing, I love it to bits!!!!! Maybe this is the glitter that will turn me into a glitter lover?!!!

 In a milky white base you have medium sized blue, fuchsia and orange hexagon shaped glitters as well blue and green bar glitters.

You need a couple of layers however the glitter applies relatively easy - you don't need to place the hexagon glitters however the longer bar glitters can be a little troublesome. They don't all sit perfectly flat and a couple curl up. I had one that was sticking up out of the polish but I pulled it out and it didn't mess the manicure up or anything....easy solution!

Overall I am super impressed by Boogie Wonderland. They normally retail for $4.75 at K-Mart and Priceline however I believe K-mart has $4 off all FOA products making these only 75 cents? I read this somewhere so I don't know if its right but I assume so....

Grey and Pink Stripes

Hi  guys!!!! I have my first ever successful striping tape adventure to show you today. It's only an accent nail because I have a very busy week ahead and didn't want to go too over the top!!!

I had a craving (can you have a craving for nail polish????) to use 'Grey Matter" by Rimmel London even though I generally don't like it's formula. But I don't know....I just wanted to use it :) But I also wanted some colour considering it is grey, overcast and raining on and off. I decided to do an accent nail using 'Oasis' by Sinful Colors. This is the most gorgeous pink, and its coming from a person who use to say she hated pink. Well I still do for most things but I've made an exception in this case. Anyway enough rambling! '

I am actually really proud of myself because normally whenever I get the striping tape out it is an absolute disaster.

Girly Girly Nail Art Challenge - Think Pink

Hi guys! I don't think many people would object to Friday's being called "good" but today it is officially "Good Friday" and a public holiday - yay!!!! - so today is a super good Friday!!!!! I hope you all enjoy your  Friday and have a brilliant weekend.

Today marks the first day of the "Girly Girl Nail Art Challenge" organised by Mani's by Moore so please check out her blog and if you want more details about the challenge it is all explained :)

Today the prompt is "Think Pink - wear your favourite pink nail polish and nail art". I'm going to be honest I'm not a very girly girl and it is only recently that I have started liking pink polish. For day #1 of this challenge I have decided to show you a dotticure. I used the seriously awesome pink polish called "Oasis" by Sinful Colours and the grey polish is "Grey Matter" by Rimmel London.

I was pretty pleased with how this turned out however I am still slightly disapointed in the dotticures I have been producing. The tools are simple enough to use but I have difficulty with knowing where to place the actual dots so that they look good.........I do love this colour combo though :)

Three Nail Challenge - Edgy

The three nail challenge is nearly over!!!! I haven't missed too many days which is a pleasant surprise (hahaha) and so today I am posting the theme 'edgy' which was suppose to be posted on the 25th but oh well, I'm not too late, am I?

For the theme 'edgy' I wanted to do a manicure with lots of lines (and therefore edges). I didn't want to do a tape manicure because I don't have any sticky tape!!! So I decided to do some stamping. I'm not quite a stamping expert yet :( but I am improving slowly, I hope!

The polishes I used for this manicure were:

• Rimmel Grey Matter
• Kit Start Up

The stamping is not as good as I wanted it to be and the lines are not super crisp on some of my fingers but overall I think it is a cool looking stamp. Although I did have trouble making sure it covered my entire nail. But maybe that's just me!

Three Nail Challenge - Futuristic

Theme #3 of the three nail challenge is futuristic.

I immediately thought of spaceships, UFO's and the playstation game 'Airblade'. 

I decided to go with the spaceship idea....and it provided me with a great excuse to use one of the polishes I just brought :) Rimmel's 'Grey Matter'. I will review the actual polish later but the colour is beautiful! I have wanted a grey polish for a long long long time......and now I have one, yay!!!

So I was thinking that because spaceships are shiny and new and futuristic......and all that that silver shatter would look cool on top of it......but it didn't quite work out so I just left it as an accent nail. 

This is the failed shatter nail. I thought the contrast might have been different but sadly I was wrong. I t was the first time I had used the shatter polish and in the bottle it looked darker. It WAS pretty but not bold enough to warrant doing all my nails.

From a distance the shatter effect disapoints. But the grey looks lovely!

This is my right hand, you probably don't see much of it and as you can see I have a cracked nail that was emphasised by this polish :( but I think this polish shows you the colour and finish of the polish quite nicely.

The Winter Challenge Day 11 - Weather inspired

 One of the polishes I got yesterday in my haul was part of Essence’s ‘Season of Extremes’ collection called ‘Nude or What?’ and I AM IN LOVE! This is the most gorgeous mauve-grey colour I have ever set my eyes on. I would even consider buying a second bottle of it (actually most definitely would) if the formula wasn’t so thin.


 When I first got a bottle of essence polish I was super pleased with the formula but of late they have been letting me down. Not sure if it’s the ‘type’ of polish. Perhaps their metallic’s are better than their cremes?

Anyway, I still really love this polish for the colour because it’s not as blunt as a grey but not as bold as a purple so you can wear it across many different situations.

 I also chose it for the winter challenge’s day of ‘weather inspired; because it reminds me of the winter days you get where it is kind of overcast and kind of blue skies but at the same time a bit gloomy! Whilst it most definitely is not a blue polish it is a murky colour, which represents from my viewpoint many of the in-between winter days we often get here in Australia. We do get winter, but not the snow, just the overcast skies, random drizzle and wind.

I am really glad I joined essence’s facebook page because they promoted this range (Season of Extremes) and made it clear that it was only available at Priceline stores, not at Target. However it is not all bad if you only have access to Target because my local target at least has the marble range which Priceline does not have. Well that is what I have found anyway. Maybe other locations differ.

Score overall: 7/10. Score for colour 10/10. Score for formula and ease of application 6/10. 

The Winter Challenge Day 5: Grey Nails

Hi guys. Sorry for posting this a bit late. Finding it difficult to fit everything into 24 hours!

On the weekend I was lucky enough to find a brilliant little outlet store which sold OPI, China Glaze, L'oreal,  Essie and Maybelline polishes dirt cheap. Which made me very happy. Among the polishes I got was Essie's 'Fair Game' so I am going to show you Fair game for day 5 of the challenge. I will do a haul post later in the week but at the moment life is crazy crazy crazy and I just don't have enough time :/

The grey that comprises 'Fair Game' is moderate. It's not too dark but too light and the shimmer is quite subtle which makes it look elegant and not over the top. If you can't tell already, I am really happy with this colour. Application wise it was a breeze, requiring only one coat and it dried real quick, yay! In some ways it is similar to a grey creme because of the smooth appearance however it definitely is a shimmer.

I'm afraid the photographs don't quite show how spectacular this polish is, stupid overcast weather! Do you like this colour or is it meh?
