Revlon Parfumerie Autumn Spice Nail Polish Review

A couple of days ago I posted my review of 'Apricot Nectar' which is a dreamy peachy orange polish from the Revlon's new Parfumerie nail polish collection. Today I have another polish from that collection, 'Autumn Spice'. It really does smell like one of those amazing spicy cinnamon scented candles, pure heaven. It isn't as overpowering the the sweet fruity smell of 'Apricot Nectar' but still lovely.

'Autumn Spice' is packed full of rich brown shimmer which gives the polish depth and catches the light. I'm going to be honest and say that I was slightly disappointed with this polish. Not because of the polish itself; the formula was very good and very easy to work with (you can get away with one coat), drying time was fine and the brush and scent was perfect but I was expecting more from the colour. Don't get me wrong, it's nice but I was expecting more...also it's not very shiny. In the bottle it looks like there could be a gold shift to this polish but there isn't. On a brighter note, you can wear a top coat and still enjoy the scent which I think is great! Nonetheless if you like your brown/bronze polishes I'm sure you will like this polish. I'll definitely be reaching for this polish a lot in autumn and winter as it is a lovely colour for the cooler months.

Nude / Gold Dotticure

Hi guys! Today I have a dotticure I wore using one of my new favourite polishes, Sinful Colors "Nirvana". I just love love love this colour as the weather is getting cooler. I'm still really bad at dotticures but love the colour combo of this one and hopefully it's not too bad. Please do let me know if you have any advice on where to place dots...yep I know, I'm totally hopeless! Hahaha

Okay, anyway. Back to the dotticure!!!! Here are some photos.

Sinful Colors Nirvana (matte)

Hi guys! Hope today is treating you well :) Today I have completely fallen in love with a beautiful polish ,so without further ado, I present to you 'Sinful Colors Nirvana (matte). First up I should point out this polish is not  matte. I have no clear why the label says 'matte' but whatever. I'm actually glad it isn't matte because I literally just saw this on the shelf and fell in love with it thinking it would be a shiny creme. Didn't bother reading the label!

Nirvana is a gorgeous, stunning, amazing..... medium brown shade that has a shiny creme finish and applies like a dream. It felt like I was applying melted milk chocolate onto my nails - the formula was great and easy to apply. It looks incredibly smooth and it makes me want to munch on a chocolate bar - yummy! It was leaning towards the thin end of the continuum however didn't run everywhere. I used two coats but it was nearly  a one-coater.

I see myself wearing this a lot this coming autumn and winter! I love nude nails and brown nails. They're simple but elegant and always look great. Can you tell I am totally in love with this polish???

The winter challenge day 15

Hi guys. 

Today I want to show you a swatch of OmShe's 'Forest' polish which is free from dibutyl phthalate, toluene, and formaldehyde. Also, it is made in Australia which is always a plus and is available at Priceline stores for $9.95. I went into Priceline one day (not my local Priceline, one in the city) and asked where their OmShe stand was and they told me they hadn't  heard of the brand but nonetheless I eventually found the OmShe products tucked away in a corner. Basically, moral of the story is that you do have to look for it.... 

I was very excited to use this brand and the fact that it is 3-free and 'green' however their range of polishes is quite small so I had difficulty deciding what colour to get. I decided on Forest and whilst it's not a WOW colour it is very versatile and very pretty. I am definitely happy with the colour. Application was also pretty good, perhaps not as good as some other brands (for instance I find Revlon polishes to apply very easily) but application was still nothing to whine about. The formula is quite thin and requires 2-3 coats. The polish itself is a cross between a nude, pink shimmer and brown. My best description of the colour I guess would have to be the following: A versatile pretty beige with a pink shimmer tone throughout. Hopefully that makes sense to you :) Well anyway, as you will see in the photographs it's a beautiful pinky brown tone with a subtle shimmer to it. I picked it for today's challenge because it is definitely 9-5 friendly but not boring :)

Broken nail manicure

Please bear with me, I suspect this is going to be a rather long post but if you can't be bothered reading.....just scroll down for some pictures and the jist of the post.
So I have been a chronic nail biter for like ever however now that I am getting older I find that I like my nails to be nice and long and ofcourse, colourful! So for the past month or so I have enjoyed nice long nails and have been painting them different colours every week. But this week I broke a few, well ok a lot, of nails and decided that it looked really nice having every nail nice and long and then the others really short, So I clipped them all and gave them some tlc using my 4-step buffing block from 'The Body Shop' (it's amazing!). Now they are all short and that makes me sad because I don't like wearing bold nail polishes on really short nails :(

So what is this post all about? I'm going to show you five different nail polishes that are suitable for short nails. The selection I have decided to use today is:

Liquid Gold - Australis
705 Gray Suede - Revlon
Brawny Tawny - Maybelline
High Heeled House Wife - Chi Chi
Flutterby - Avon

This is my first real 'nail polish' post and I am afraid that my photographs are pretty horrible. So apologies in advance.
Here are some photographs of my nails before I attempted to rescue them.

Okay so next step was to apply the nailpolish.
Sadly because its late at night, I have never photographed my nails before and all of these colours are 'nude' the photographs are pretty unimpressive.
My favourite colour all time is the Gray Suede by Revlon. It is an awesome beige/nude colour that is brilliant if your nails are short however this is also my favourite because when your nails are long you can quickly apply two coats of this on a Sunday and it will still look great on Friday night (if you use a topcoat). However this is the colour you can see the least well.

Due to the fact that I am lacking in photography skills I am also going to describe them. The nail polish above is by Australis and is a metallic beige/pewter. 

Maybelline Brawny Tawny - A strong beige with pink highlights and shimmer. Great if you have to wear conservative nail polish to work as it is still a fun colour but doesn't make a statement.

The quality of this nail polish is brilliant and I highly recommend it. You can get away with using only one coat and it lasts for quite a while.

My favourite nail polish!!! Gray suede by Revlon. A must have for everybody (ok I am biased). A neutral beige with a tiny bit of shimmer. Very natural looking. 

Chi Chi - High Heeled House Wife. A stronger version of the 'nude'. 

Avon - Flutterby. A beautiful pale pink that has purple highlights and is shimmery. 

                                        

 

For the image above: the middle finger is the chi chi nail polish (the darkest) , the finger to the left is the Revlon but it is actually a bit darker (bad lighting) and to the right is the Maybelline. 

So from this post I have learnt:

1) I need to improve my blogging and photography skills.

2) I can't wait for my nails to grow. Hurry up already!!!!

3) Both the Maybelline Brawny Tawny and the Revlon Gray Suede are great for short nails.
