Revlon Pink Quartz Review - Pink Duochrome

Hi guys!
Today I have a stunning and unique duochrome polish to show you. I love duochrome polishes, the way they colour shift and come in a multitude of fascinating colour combinations often leaves me staring at my nails, like a crazy lady, in different lights.But this polish goes a step further...it is a pink duochrome polish. I haven't seen many (or any?) polishes with a strong pink duochrome effect and let me tell you, I am in love!

The polish in question is Pink Quartz from the Chroma Chameleon Collection by Revlon. They are now available in Australia :) Pink Quartz shifts predominantly between pink and a golden bronze. You also sometimes get a peachy colour. The duochrome effect from this polish is magnificent, I often find that both the pink colour and either the gold or bronze colour is on my nail at the same time, which looks amazing.

The formula is good, two thick coats gives you opacity. The formula is streak-free. Wear time was good. With the Revlon Quick Dry top coat this lasted well on me and I'm tough with my hands and nails. After a couple of days of wearing this I put another layer of topcoat on and I found it nearly lasted a week which I was very happy about because I adore this polish.

So to sum it all up...a stunning pink/gold/bronze duochrome polish with a good formula that I have fallen head over heels in love with.

Nail Art - Teal and gold stamping

Hi guys,
this weekend I finally got around to doing some actual nail art. For the past couple of months I've really only done boring old manicures and swatches and used the striping tape occasionally. With that in mind I pulled out my stamping stuff. I always feel like stamping is a "risk" because if done improperly you can completely stuff up your manicure and have to start all over again...but this time I think it worked out relatively well. Especially when you consider that I haven't stamped for a really long time!

I used a polish from Face of Australia's Barbados limited edition series called 'Let's Go Scuba Diving' which is absolutely gorgeous. Requiring two coats or three thinner coats, this is a really striking teal shimmer polish with heaps of depth. I used 'A Piece of Forever' to stamp.

And now I am finishing with a bit of a random picture (which I hope you enjoy). Whilst I was trecking around the backyard looking for good lighting I snapped this photo of a camellia bush which is about the bloom. It's all furry!!!

Nude / Gold Dotticure

Hi guys! Today I have a dotticure I wore using one of my new favourite polishes, Sinful Colors "Nirvana". I just love love love this colour as the weather is getting cooler. I'm still really bad at dotticures but love the colour combo of this one and hopefully it's not too bad. Please do let me know if you have any advice on where to place dots...yep I know, I'm totally hopeless! Hahaha

Okay, anyway. Back to the dotticure!!!! Here are some photos.

Rimmel Gold Save The Queen Metal Rush Collection Review

Okay so obviously I am nail polish obsessed and I try out a lot of polishes.... if you haven't noticed, hahaha!!! But it's not that often I fall in love with polishes. Despite my love for polish a polish really does have to be special for me to love it and claim it as a favourite. I expect not only a stunning colour but a formula that applies easily, lasts well and dries quickly. I don't have time to wait decades for my polish to dry!

 So, enough rambling, let me present to you from Rimmel's new Metal Rush collection 'Gold Save The Queen' - a gold/copper duochrome which is absolutely delightful. I have to admit I was rather surprised at how brilliant this polish is. I seriously wasn't expecting this polish to be this amazing. Silly me!!!!

Gold Save The Queen only requires two coats and is a very vibrant duochrome - it shifts between a warm copper shade and a very vibrant yellow-based gold.

I LOVE this polish and think that it is quite classy but still interesting. It's formula was brilliant and easy to apply. I used two thick-ish coats and unlike some duochromes the formula was streak-free. I can't comment on how well it wears because I only applies it last night.

Overall Score: 8.5/10
Formula Score: 8.5/10
Colour Score: 9/10
Repurchase? YES!!!!!! Tempted to get a back-up :)

Essence Limited Trend Edition: Circus Circus My Sparkling Acrobat Review

Essence's Circus Circus trend edition got released this week here in Australia and is exclusive to Priceline. I immediately knew that I wanted  needed the 'My Sparking Acrobat' polish in my life! A duo consisting of a lovely shiny black creme and a mix of golden glitter particles interspersed with larger square glitter pieces, My Sparkling Acrobat is absolutely stunning and pretty unique. Personally I think the entire 'Circus Circus' trend edition is pretty exciting and the release of more of these double-ended polishes is awesome. I have my eye on the eau de toilette from this range too!

Originally released in December 2011 for other countries this has just landed here in Australia and it looks like a great collection so run (don't walk) to your closest Priceline!

So I began with one coat of the black creme and can I just say WOW!!!!! This is seriously one amazing polish - super shiny, with a perfect creme finish and it applies like a dream. Oh and it's a one coater too! Love, love, love it!

Here is a picture of the black polish on it's own.

Then I did one coat of the gold glitter. This is also, super impressive, as it is a very dense glitter and you don't  need to arrange the glitter at all. It too applies wonderfully. Here is a picture with one coat of glitter! How impressive is that? seriously....a one-coater dense glitter top coat!!! :)

I then added another layer of the glitter but this was totally unnecessary and I think I prefer it with only one coat of the glitter. Oh well, I know for next time! I then used essence's 'gel look XXL Shine' top coat. This glitter does need a topcoat to feel smooth.

Overall this is definitely a polish to get excited about.

Happy Australia Day! 31 day challenge day 26

G'day mate......Happy Australia Day!!!! I hope everybody has a wonderful day and enjoys the long weekend, whatever you are doing. Two of my best friends are coming over for bubbles and some nibbles before we head into the city for some dinner. Fingers crossed we get a table and its not too chaotic :)

For the 26th day of the 31 day challenge which coincidently (I assume) falls on Australia Day the prompt is very fitting as it is  'Inspired by your country'. I have super-short nails at the moment :( so I feel quite limited in terms of nail art. Plus, I'm ashamed to feature these short nails on the blog, they are so yuck!
I know I have a missed a couple of days for this challenge but I will definitely go back and complete them before the end of the challenge.

I went for a burnt orange polish with gold speckles in by Essence called 'Gorgeous Bling Bling'. I'm thinking this could represent the outback. I've never been to the outback although I would love to go. I have however been to the 'bush' and, especially when we were in drought, it was very dry. I also did a gold accent nail using Essence's 'A Piece of Forever' because according to our national anthem we have "golden soil". I guess our colours our green and gold and a green and gold skittle would have looked cool but with short yucky nails I'm just not brave enough. I did however stamp a kangaroo onto my accent nail using 'Gorgeous Bling Bling' and consequently discovered that that polish is definitely not good for stamping. But oh well, you can't win them all!

So if you're not a fan of Australia I guess you should stop reading now (bye) but I thought I would write a little about Australia :) First up, our anthem. We use to sing this every Monday morning at assembly in Primary School, while raising the Aussie flag up the flagpole.

I also though that for the long weekend I would showcase some more of Australia, do some more Aussie nails and maybe some more videos from youtube. I have to laugh, when I was searching for videos, I found a video, '10 reasons not to come to Australia' :)

31 day challenge day#14 - stamping

Day 14 of the 31 day challenge: stamping

Yep, I KNOW, it is 2 days late but to be honest I am feeling a bit sad :( I love blogging and I love experimenting with nail-art but I feel like the 31 day challenge is beginning to make doing my nails a "chore" and making me love all of this a little less (just a little less). That and I have brought a lot of polishes but really that money should have been going towards the holiday I am hoping to go on at the end of the year to celebrate the end of my undergrad degree. Anyway, has anyone else felt like this? I am sure that once I calm myself down I will feel a lot better. I guess I just hate it when I feel a bit out of control.....LOL! I'm sure I will regain my complete passion once this challenge is over and I can do a manicure and wear it for a week (ok, realistically....a few days)

Sorry to whinge and thanks for listening to me! Lets move onto the polish.......
Today I have done some simple but elegant stamping and I love it! Last time I wore this polish it was winter. Today the sun was shining and I discovered that Revlon's 'Spanish Moss' has a beautiful shimmer in it!!! I am so head over heels in love with this polish. I will do a swatch for you one day soon. So stay tuned :)

I stamped using essence's 'A Piece of Forever', from their breaking dawn limited edition collection. It really is a great polish, it can easily be worn alone but as a stamping polish it is reliable and bold. I think it works better than the Konad gold polish.

So what do you think of this design? I really love it :)

31 day challenge - day#3 gold

Day three of the new 31 day challenge has arrived and the theme is 'gold'. Gold is indulgent, elegant and is a very royal colour to me. Whiz, bang *light-bulb moment* I decided to do a gold manicure fit for a queen and  I just had to include purple too :)

The polishes I used for this manicure:

• Revlon's Bold Sangria 
• Essence's Gold Fever
• Essence's peel off base coat {works great for removing glitter} 
• Essence's A Piece of Forever {middle finger stamping}

A quick side-note, all of these polishes are fantastic. Bold Sanngria is a rich purple and a one-coater (oh joy!) and I'm having a love affair with Gold Fever at the moment. 

In real-life this is a lot more sparkly and looks absolutely divine, very elegant. I'm loving the combo of purple + gold. 

It's going to a hot couple of days ahead, I think we will be lucky if it drops below 30 degrees for a few days and tonight it is suppose to stay around 23 degrees (Celsius). My silly (but very adorable dog) is grumpy with me at the moment because I won't let her go outside and lay in the sun. Personally, I would have thought the cool air-conditioned kitchen would have been a pleasurable place to be on a day like this! Lol!!! Oh and by the way I know 'blogger' is telling you that I posted this on the 2nd but here in Australia it is already the 3rd....I'm definitely not an organised blogger. I only did this manicure an hour ago!

Christmas Day Nails

I love the Christmas season.....and Boxing Day! Boxing Day is brilliant, I always spend it with my family and we usually spend a good proportion of the day watching the cricket! One of the only days of the year that we are all home and spending time with each other. Anyway this is just a quick post to show you the nails I wore for Christmas. Don't forget you can click on the photos to enlarge them :)

This is two coats of Essence's 'Gorgeous Bling Bling' and two coats of Essence's 'Gold Fever' and a coat (or two?) of Essence's 'gel-look XXL shine topcoat'.

I was super thrilled with how these nails looked. SUPER shiny and very festive with all of the glitter. However I am kicking myself because I didn't use essence's 'peel off'' base coat which means that this is going to be an absolute pain to remove. The thing we do for beauty......lol

I took these photo's this afternoon so there is a little tip-wear but no major chips, wish I had gotten photos yesterday but as usual Christmas day was chaotic!

Essence - Gorgeous Bling Bling

I have a new essence polish to show you today - gorgeous bling bling. Gorgeous Bling Bling is a vivid burnt orange with some gold shimmer particles of different sizes. 

 Despite the gold particles being subtle I still like them because they give the polish depth and I think if I had 3 thicker coats (instead of 2 thin coats) and if I had added a top coat the photos and end result would have turned out even better! The shimmer effect is fantastic, especially under light / in the sunshine. What a shame the sun couldn't make an appearance when I swatched this! It was a pretty cloudy day.....

 The formula was good and drying time fantastic with this polish. The formula is quite thin but totally workable, two quick coats and it's all good :)

Overall I love this polish and the gold shimmer-y particles even though you can't see them properly in the photos. The polish is actually super similar to the bottle cap..... A great polish for all year round and definitely a polish I would re-purchase: over all score = 8/10

Battle Nail Challenge - Geometric

Hi guys, hope everybody is well and enjoying the Christmas season! I haven't been posting much lately because I have been running around everywhere buying presents and organising things. Oh, and some silly person (err. me) decided to take some extra classes over the summer period! What was I thinking???? Instead of watching the cricket and painting my nails after and winding down after Christmas I will be pulling my hair out writing two assignments.

Anyway, I am finally in the spirit of the season and did this awesome manicure. Inspired by wrapping paper it is red, green and gold stripes done using sticky tape. Not very geometric I know but I really love this mani and wanted to share it :)

• Revlon - Emerald

Christmas Mani - Getting into the spirit

Wow, I can't believe it's the 15th of December already!!! Well actually, I can't believe is it already DECEMBER!!! Can somebody please tell me where the year went? Since I'm still coming into terms with it being Christmas and all I have only just started trying to get into the 'spirit' of the season. Because we are currently renovating and our house is upside down we decided to skip getting a "real" tree which is a shame because I think having a tree is my favourite part of the season and we are making do with a small fake tree from IKEA. Pretty good for the price though..... It is smothered with tinsel and lights and navy blue and silver decorations. Since the tree went up yesterday I thought I would do a Christmas Mani. But I couldn't decide what nail polish to use, so I used them all :) Hahahaha that's evidence of my indecisiveness right there :)

So today I bring to you:

• Butter London's 'Pillar Box Red' 
• Revlon's 'Emerald'
• Essence's Breaking Dawn Part Two ' A Piece of Forever' 

All are very Christmas-y polishes and one-coaters too!!! Yay :)

Pillar Box Red and Emerald are glossy creams and A Piece of Forever is a metallic (non-streaky) however because of the overcast skies and rain the photos don't show how awesome these polishes are although they have both featured on my blog because....AND I ran out of nail polish remover before I finished my clean-up so please accept my apologies. Not a great start to the day (did these straight away this morning) and I planned to do heaps of swatching today but now I'm not so sure with the weather and all. 

While typing this post I decided that the photos didn't really show how funky this multi-coloured mani looks in real life. In particular, the colours are wayyyy more vivid. But anyway, holding the camera under my chin I attempted a 'both hands' mani. Ummm.... please feel free to laugh :)
