Project No Buy Week Four Reflection / Week Five Goals

Hi guys, another project no buy update. Somehow this never got written on Sunday so today it shall be! :)
I've had a busy week because I have my exams next week so I'm going a bit nutty....

My goals for this week were:

1. Complete four weeks of neuroscience notes: completed, phew!!! I've typed so many summary notes up I think my fingers are going to fall off!!!

2. Go on three power-walks: failed, only went on two. By the time I walk to uni, walk home and walk to work...etc I don' really feel like power-walking. Once my exams are over I'm going to try and do more exercise, also thinking about going to yoga.

3. Reply to all of my e-mails: yay I did this goal too!

4. Get ahead on blog posts and schedule them for the upcoming exam period: yep, tick!

5. Review a product: nope, didn't do this goal...bad me!

6. Photograph a nail swatch and some nail-art: totally failed on this because I had no time to do nail art and my nails were basically naked for the entire week, shock horror! I can't remember the last time I didn't paint my nails for an entire week. Although on the weekend I did buy an awesome polish and put it on as soon as I got home. Star dust from ModelsPrefer might be my all-time favorite polish...love it!!!! Review coming your way soon :)

So that means that I have accumulated $13 bringing my "credit" to $91 but I brought the models prefer star dust polish for $5 and an  INNOXA lipgloss for $11.99 making my total "credit" balance to $74.

My goals for this week {week 5} are:

  • All notes and lectures written and watched by Wednesday.
  • Go on two power walks.
  • Write a product review.
  • Eat healthy snacks.
Thanks for reading and have a great week :)

Project No Buy Week 3 Reflection / Week 4 Goals

Hi guys, It's Sunday again which means another 'project no buy' post! If you are sitting there wondering what 'project no buy' is click here to read my original post explaining it all. It's a bit different, compared to a don't buy anything cold-turkey, project no buy because I set myself goals each week and if I achieve them I gain "credit" that can be used to buy beauty products. Why am I doing this? To try and curb my impulse buying of make-up and nail polish :p

My goals for this week were:
1. Complete three weeks of neuroscience notes: failed
2. Go on three power-walks: failed
3. Get ahead on my post blogs for the next couple of weeks: successful :)

So overall a not very successful week, I guess because of my dear friend procrastination! And exams are getting closer and closer which means I kind of lose the plot :/ Anyway, I am planning to kick myself into action this week! My goals are:

1. Complete four weeks of neuroscience notes.
2. Go on three power-walks.
3. Reply to all of my e-mails.
4. Get ahead on blog posts and schedule them for the upcoming exam period.
5. Review a product.
6. Photograph a nail swatch and some nail-art.

The only make-up product I brought this week was an illuminator and as I didn't have any other illuminators or highlighters I don't have to deduct it from my "credit" balance...confused? You can check out the rules in the original post I linked. So that brings me to the end of the post. My current balance is $78.00

Thanks for reading and have a great week :)

Project No Buy Week Two Reflection Week Three Goals

Hi guys, sorry this post is a bit late. I should of written this on Sunday but now it's thursday...
I'm going to try and keep it nice and short.

My goals for week two were:
1. Go on four power-walks: failed
2. Take water bottles to university to save money: successful
3. Complete three weeks of neuroscience notes: failed
4. Photograph two nail swatches: successful
5. Write one product review: failed

I also got some marks back so for week two, in total, I earned $36.00. My previous balance for credit was $51.00 so the total balance was $87.00. However I did buy two Revlon nail polishes from Priceline (BOGO) so my balance is currently at $71.00.

My goals for week three (27th May to 2nd June):
1. Complete three weeks of neuroscience notes.
2. Go on three power-walks.
3. Get ahead on my post blogs for the next couple of weeks.

Cheers

Project No Buy Week #1

Hi guys, I've re-started doing the project no buy thing where you earn credit for achieving goals each week and then you can go spend this credit on make-up, nail-polish and the like. Hopefully this will get me to be more productive with my university work and manage my budget better.

The goals for this week were:

1. Draft/Plan for case-analysis completed for Thursday's class.
2. Go on two power-walks.
3. Post a nail swatch and photograph two nail swatches minimum.
4. Eat healthy snacks.

So lets see how I went....

Goal one was not completed :(
Goal two was completed successfully. I actually went on four power walks :)
Goal three was completed successfully as well. I hope you enjoyed my blue and green striping tape mani. Click here if you missed it! I was actually pretty proud of it.
Goal four was attempted but not completely successful considering I had two muffins whilst at uni this week and a couple of mint slice biscuit.....so yummy!

Overall I achieved 2 out of 4 goals which mean I gain $6 credit however I also got two assignments back and received a HD and D which means I reward myself with an extra $45 for the good marks :) Phew! My current balance is therefore $51.00.

My goals for next week are:
1. Go on four power-walks.
2. Take water bottles to university to save money.
3. Complete three weeks of neuroscience notes.
4. Photograph two nail swatches.
5. Write one product review.

Project No Buy - Starting again.......

Hi guys, so awhile ago I was doing a "project no buy" of sorts where I set myself goals every week and if I achieved them I got "credit" I was allowed to spend on beauty products. I did do a post explaining the rules but I am going to quickly re-list them. University got really busy and I got really behind with everything. I also didn't take the no buy seriously enough and often went over my beauty credit allowance. I really love the idea of this project no buy (designed by Nancy, to check out her awesome blog click here) and I seriously need to pull myself together so I'm starting fresh.

Credit: http://www.rgbstock.com/

1. I am not allowed to buy things like eyeshadow, foundation, primer, mascara, nail polish unless I have ran out and have no other alternative. Only essential products like shower gel, shampoo and doedorant can be brought without using my beauty "credit".

2. I am allowed to buy whatever I want (limited to $50) if I am at a shop I can't normally get to, if I see a product that is usually very hard to find or if there is a super major sale.

3. Credit is gained by following the rules of this no buy; achieving my weekly goals, good study habits, good marks, by using up products and staying ahead and being organised with my blog as well as successfully working toward my long-term goals for 2013.

So how do I get this elusive credit?

  • Completed goal $3
  • All goals completed $5
  • Empty Product $1
  • Assignment marks: HD $30 D$15 C$4
  • Getting ahead on blog $4
Credit: Credit: http://www.rgbstock.com/

Okay so now I am going to set my goals for this coming week.

1. Draft/Plan for case-analysis completed for Thursday's class.
2. Go on two power-walks.
3. Post a nail swatch and photograph two nail swatches minimum.
4. Eat healthy snacks.

If you want to participate in this please feel free to :) You can leave your link below if you want and I'll come visit! Wish me luck....
Cheers.

Project No Buy Week 7 Reflection and Week 8 Goals

Hi guys!!!! Sorry I have MIA lately.....university is crazy at the moment. Five assignments in one month, seriously? And then there is work and blah blah blah. You deserve better!

Well I guess the good thing is I haven't had time to waste money :)

Anyway my goals for this week were:

1. Complete my literature review by Friday and begin my neuroscience assignment.
Nope and nope.

2. Eat super healthily.
Well kind of. I made a conscious effort to eat a lot of fruit but I also ended up eating a lot of chocolate because I still have heaps of chocolate eggs from Easter so have been on munching on those while working on my essays.

3. Keep up to date with the girly girl challenge and do a manicure for the battle challenge.
Yes and no. The girly girl manicure is photographed so all I have to do is edit the photos and hopefully post it up for you tomorrow.

4. Review a Rimmel lippy.
Nope.

5. Go for two walks minimum this week.
Yay!!!! I was actually successful at something....hahaha

Okay so that was pretty disastrous!
Let's see how my credit it going......This week I gained $1 for an empty (Baby Lips) and I completed one goal giving me $3. My credit balance therefore is now $-.2.50. Yay!!!!! I am nearly out of debt :)

My goals for this coming week are:

1. Complete my interview transcript by Friday.

2. Go for two walks minimum this week.

3. Eat healthy snacks and eat one piece of fruit a day.

4. Post a "whats in my make-up bag" post and review of a Rimmel matte lippy.

5. Start writing my neuroscience essay before next Sunday.

Sorry I have bee a lousy blogger! I will try and make it up to you this week! :)
Cheers and I hope you all have a great week.

Project No Buy: Week 6 Reflection & Week 7 Goals

Lets see how I went on this week's goals!

1. Complete my literature review before Sunday, submit my journal assessment by Thursday and begin my neuroscience assignment.
An amazing thing happened! They gave us a whole extra to complete our literature review which is amazing. In three years of studying at university they have never admitted that they had not given us enough time to complete a major assignment - phew! I am still researching but will be very happy if it's finished by Wednesday! This is quite a difficult task :( Consequently I haven't started my neuroscience assignment because I am still 100% focused on my literature review.

2. Aim to go on four power walks and eat healthy!
I would have gone on four walks but it rained all day today so I have only managed three power walks. The healthy eating was going well in the beginning of the week but this weekend I have been very naughty.  It was my brothers birthday so the weekend has involved a lot of eating!

3. It's a busy week for assessments so I will try to do a minimum of one nail post and one "other" post and obviously keep up to date with the girly girl challenge!
I completed my manicure for the girly girl challenge, posted by review on Burt's Bees cuticle cream and posted two nail posts so I didn't do too badly. 4. Complete one manicure for the battle nail challenge.
Completed :)

I also used up all of my energizing orange baby lips (+$1.00) so I am very happy I have finally got an "empty"!!!!

In terms of purchases, I spent $6.50 on two eyeshadows by essence and $9.95 on a make-up brush (however I count this as an essential purchase because I didn't have a brush for the face. Only an eye-shadow brush). I also award myself "credit" when I receive good marks and I am happy to say I got 90% for a class presentation I made the other day so yippee! Therefore from last week my balance was: $-30.50 and I gained $24.00 so my balance is $-6.50. Still in the negative but improving. This week I am aiming to spend $0 on make-up however this is a limited edition collection of polish being released from Face of Australia so if I see those polishes anywhere I will be grabbing them because they always sell out super quickly AND there are some very unique polishes in the collection so fingers crossed I can get them :) hahaha I'm not addicted.....much!

Now onto my goals for this week (week 7)
1. Complete my literature review by Friday and begin my neuroscience assignment.
2. Eat super healthily.
3. Keep up to date with the girly girl challenge and do a manicure for the battle challenge.
4. Review a Rimmel lippy.
5. Go for two walks minimum this week.

Now, I have also changes the rules regarding the credit for this project no buy because the original rules  were designed for only making three goals a week however recently I have been making more goals! I have also looked at my budget again and want to reign it in a little! I created this graphic so I can easily paste it into all my project no buy posts so that it is easier for you to understand where the credit comes from rather than having to refer to the original post (click here to read it).

Thanks for reading and have a fantastic week!

Project No Buy Week 5 Reflection / Week 6 Goals

Wow I can't believe I have been doing this for five weeks now, where does time go?

My goals for week six!

1. Complete my literature review before Sunday, submit my journal assessment by Thursday and begin my neuroscience assignment.

2. Aim to go on four power walks and eat healthy!

3. It's a busy week for assessments so I will try to do a minimum of one nail post and one "other" post and obviously keep up to date with the girly girl challenge!

4. Complete one manicure for the battle nail challenge.

Now lets find out how I went with this week's goals!

1.  Complete summary notes for topics 1 & 2 and at least started topic 3 for all of my classes.
How did I go?  Not quite completed.... ):

2. Begin my literature review.......oh joy :/
How did I go? There is a nice big red tick next to this, I have begun working on my literature review and already have put quite a few hours in on it. Unfortunately I think I have left it all a bit late. I like to complete assignments a week before their due date but don't see that happening this trimester as I have 4 assignments due this month and I have been lazy :s Oh well, at least I have started finally falling into good study habits. It always takes me forever to get into a routine! GAH

3. Don't neglect this blog like I did last week :s Aim to post at least two nail posts.
How did I go? Okay so obviously this blog isn't the most important thing in my life (sorry blog don't want to hurt your feelings but I need to focus on my study) but hopefully it's not neglected! I did post a review this week and two nail posts so I think I'm doing alright. What do you think? Do I need to post more, am I putting you to sleep?

4. Review my Burt's Bees Cuticle Cream.
How did I go? Another tick :) yay!!!! I have written this review all up but unfortunately had to take new photos so the product photos will be all mashed up :( I could swear I took photos of it when I first brought it but can't find them....and my folders are relatively neat too???

5. Catch-up on my e-mails and keep up to date with the Girly Girl Challenge.
How did I go? There is a tick next to "keeping up to date with the girly girl challenge" however I still need to reply to handful of e-mails.

And now the good stuff.... the credit!!! For each goal reached I reward myself with $4 so that means I get $14 this week :) That takes my overall credit balance to $-30.50 and despite hauling some beauty related stuff this week it was all within the guidelines of this no buy (click here to read the rules) as it was things I either did not have or had ran out of (deo, cotton pads, eye make up remover, mascara and organic eye shadow). You might be wondering about the organic eye shadow but it's true! I have been looking for a good eye shadow that is "safe" for my eyes and fingers crossed I have found a good one.

Oh gosh this is going to be a busy couple of weeks! Time to begin the juggling act.....
Thanks for reading and I hope you all have a fantastic week :)

Project No Buy Week 4 Reflection / Week 5 Goals

Hi guys! I'm just going to quickly review how I went with my goals for last week and set some new goals for the coming week. Goodness knows I need them, I've been pretty lazy lately :( !!!! These posts are probably kind of boring for you to read but they keep me accountable so I hope you don't mind them too much.....

Lets see how I went with my goals last week:

 1. Write two product reviews and catch-up on my e-mails.
How did I go? Haven't caught up on my e-mails, GAH!!! But I have started..... and the reviews? Failed! I barely posted last week at all because of all the study I had to do for a presentation. Have I mentioned how much I hate class presentations?

 2. Go for minimum of three walks and eat healthy snacks.

How did I go? I did start walking again this week so I can put a tick next to this goal. I also did try and eat more healthy and did quite well until Easter...... I found some really yummy muesli bars so I have eating those instead of biscuits and chips!

 3. Complete two manicures for the battle challenge.

How did I go? Failed! :(

 4. Do lots of study! aim to complete at least two topics worth of summary notes.

How did I go? Failed :( But as soon as I type this post I am going to hit the books hard. Pinky swear!

So my current credit is now: $-44.50. I'm just going to go hang my head in shame now......

Week 5 Goals!!!!

1.  Complete summary notes for topics 1 & 2 and at least started topic 3 for all of my classes.
2. Begin my literature review.......oh joy :/
3. Don't neglect this blog like I did last week :s Aim to post at least two nail posts.
4. Review my Burt's Bees Cuticle Cream.
5. Catch-up on my e-mails and keep up to date with the Girly Girl Challenge.

Wish me luck and have a fantastic day!
Cheers

Project No Buy Week 3 Reflection & Week 4 Goals

Okay so it is that time of the week again.... time to review my goals that I had for this week and to set some new goals.

The goals:

1. All lectures and notes for last week and this coming week need to be completed.
How did I go? Failed! I have been focusing on my assessment tasks so unfortunately I haven't completed my notes.
2. I want to write up a minimum of three nail posts this week.
How did I go? Yay! This is actually a goal I completed. I posted two nail posts and have a further three already written and ready to be posted :)
3. I want to review a minimum of two products this week. Fingers crossed I can get more than two done though!
How did I go? I reviewed Nivea's Pure & Natural Hand Cream and 'Nirvana' a beautiful polish by Sinful Colors.
4. I know this is terrible but I don't eat enough fruit so I want to eat three pieces of fruit this week and I want to go on at two walks this week
How did I go? I failed on this fruit part of this goal and only ate one piece of fruit (bad me!!!) but I did go on three walks so that was good!

Also, as per the rules for this project (click here to read them) I get  $4 of credit for completing two of my goals and $4 for being a good blogger and staying up to date with my blog :) However I got carried away on the weekend and ended up spending way too much money on beauty related products. As embarassing as it is, I totally forgot about this 'project no buy' and it was only after I got home from the shops that it dawned on me that I had gone over my credit limit. Last week I had $7.40 of credit and this  week's contribution takes that up to a total of $15.50 however I am now in the minus and my credit balance is: $-22.50 :(

*EDIT* I just realised that I somehow managed to post an earlier draft of this post and therefore there are no goals listed! Not sure what is happening......

So anyway the goals for this week are:
 1. Write two product reviews and catch-up on my e-mails.
 2. Go for minimum of three walks and eat healthy snacks.
 3. Complete two manicures for the battle challenge.
 4. Do lots of study! aim to complete at least two topics worth of summary notes.

Project No Buy Week Two - Reflection

Another week has come and gone.....and I can't really say it was a fantastic week. I have been feeling a little under the weather and it was the first week of uni for the semester so you have all those boring introductory lectures to attend :( But enough complaining!!!!! I saw one of my best friends ever today and we watched 'Covert Affairs' season two together. I love that show!!! So that was definitely a plus.

Weekly goals:

1. I want to get back on track with my exercising and healthy eating. I injured my knee two weeks ago and have been unable to power walk, even walking around the shopping centre causes it to ache.....
As long as my knee cooperates I want to go on at least two power walks.
How did I go? Unfortunately because I was feeling under the weather and we had a heat wave for the majority of the week I didn't power walk. I know it sounds like I am making excuses but when it's stinking hot and you feel yuck you don't really want to power walk. I did take the dog for a walk though :)

2. I want to get two nail posts up this week so that is goal number two.
How did I go? Yay!!! I actually achieved this goal.

3. I want to write reviews on Burt's Bee cuticle cream and Nivea pure and natural hand cream.
How did I go?  Bad me!!!  I didn't get either review written, I must must must get these done! GAH

4. Uni has started again so I need to make sure I complete all notes and lectures for this week of content.
How did I go? Okay I guess all things considered. I have started my summary notes and they should be finished by the end of tomorrow. I attended all my classes so I guess this goal was 50% completed.

So the total amount of credit gained for this week was $4.50 and last week I had a total credit of $26 however this week I spent $23 on nail polish and a new lip balm I totally didn't need. Therefore I have a total of $7.50 remaining.

Week Three Goals

1. All lectures and notes for last week and this coming week need to be completed.
2. I want to write up a minimum of three nail posts this week.
3. I want to review a minimum of two products this week. Fingers crossed I can get more than two done though!
4. I know this is terrible but I don't eat enough fruit so I want to eat three pieces of fruit this week and I want to go on at two walks this week.

Thank you very much for reading my blog and because GFC won't work past July if you like my blog please follow me on bloglovin'. The 'follow' button is in my right sidebar. Have a great week! Cheers

Weekly goals:

1. I want to get back on track with my exercising and healthy eating. I injured my knee two weeks ago and have been unable to power walk, even walking around the shopping centre causes it to ache.....
As long as my knee cooperates I want to go on at least two power walks.

2. I want to get two nail posts up this week so that is goal number two.

3. I want to write reviews on Burt's Bee cuticle cream and Nivea pure and natural hand cream.

4. Uni has started again so I need to make sure I complete all notes and lectures for this week of content.
I am also going to modify the rules for this challenge, in regards to credit gained. For each weekly goal achieved I will reward myself with $3 of credit and if I achieve two or more goals I will reward myself with an extra $1 for each goal achieved.

Take care :)

Project No Buy #1 Reflection

Okay so one week ago I started the 'Project No Buy'. To check out the original post explaining the rules of this project no buy click here.

Lets see how I did with my weekly goals!

Goal 1 was: complete the write-up and photograph two nail posts.
How did I go? Despite changing my nail polish every day or two and taking photographs of my NOTD I somehow don't get them posted so I wanted to get at least two nail posts up. I am happy to say I achieved this weekly goals - yay!!!
Click here to read the post where I used my flakie top coat with a layer of matte top coat over the top of it all! And I also wrote a  post using the new limited edition polish by essence called 'My Sparkling Acrobat' which is a seriously amazing polish. I'm impressed! I'll post it soon.

2. Review Burt's Bee's cuticle cream and OmShe lipstick.
I finally got my review about OmShe's lipstick in 'Moon' written up this week. I started writing it awhile ago but wanted to wear the lipstick a couple more times before completing the review. Expect this to be posted on my  blog soon!
And the Burt's Bees cuticle cream review? That didn't happen this week but stay tuned.

3.Goal: Cut out the naughty food and stick to water and tea.
How did I go? Okay so this is where things start to go down hill because I had quite a busy and social week so I found myself having a couple of meals out and I didn't pick the healthiest options. I also had, whilst out and about socialising, four glasses of soft drink which is A LOT I know!!!! I usually only drink water but my self-control went out the window this week. I did partially succeed with my health eating at home though.

According to the rules of the challenge I also get to award myself credit for good study marks. I received my exam grades this week and did pretty well (yay!!!!) so I gain $21 worth of credit.

I also got two posts ahead of myself so that's another $4 credit.

Total credit gained for this week? $26

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great week!

Project No Buy - Week #1

Okay here goes......wish me luck! I am beginning my first ever 'no buy' project. I discussed this a few days ago, click here to read more about the rules of this project.

The rules are that if I complete the weekly goals that I set today I will earn "credit" which I can use to buy beauty things. I need to save up money and need to learn some self-control so hopefully this will help me do precisely that.

My week goals for this week are:

1. Complete the write-up and photograph two nail posts.
2. Review Burt's Bee's cuticle cream and OmShe lipstick.
3. I've been on holidays for the past two weeks and have been over-indulging so for the next week I am only drinking water and tea and not eating any naughty food!

This idea is "borrowed" from Nancy so please check out her blog (click here) and see how well she is going with her project no buy :)

Thanks for reading and take care.
