Drugstore Showdown | Maybelline Mascaras

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

This is one of my all-time favourite mascaras and definitely my favourite mascara from Maybelline. It does a superb job of fanning out your lashes. It lengthens, separates and curls up really well. This mascara makes your lashes look gorgeous. It never smudges, clumps or flakes and it keeps your lashes up all day long. The wand on this mascara isn't your typical wand, it has two separate sections. The inner section of the wand helps get right into the roots of your lashes and the larger part is for fanning out the tips of your lashes. If you have never used mascara before it might not be the best wand to begin with, however its no big deal. Don't you hate it when your lashes end up pointing down at the end of the day?!

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara

The wand on this mascara is tiny! I swear some eyebrow product wands are larger than this. This mascara is a very basic mascara. It doesn't clump and it curl your lashes up and separates them. However, unlike the Lash Sensational Mascara it isn't a dramatic effect. For a basic mascara it's fine however the brush is too small for my personal preferences and Maybelline do other mascaras that do the same thing but better (e.g., The Falsies).

Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara

I picked this mascara after seeing my Mum use it and loving how it looked on her. This mascara gives a dramatic effect, volumising and lengthening your lashes. However, it isn't as dramatic as the Lash Sensational Mascara. Two cons of this mascara is that it can be clumpy and it transfers very easily during application to your eyelid.

Products I Regret Purchasing

Wet n Wild Walking on Eggshells Eyeshadow Trio

'Walking on Eggshells' is a trio from Wet n' Wild that was hyped up on Youtube and beauty blogs a couple of years ago. When I visited America last I was super excited to finally get my hands onto this trio. Sadly I have only reached for this trio three times and one of those times was when I was writing up this post. I wanted to check I had my facts right. The three shades in this trio are very shimmery and I find it impossible to make a look out of it. I personally feel that a matte crease is essential. I like the shades in this trio and individually they are pretty. Primer is essential with these shadows, however I find that is true for all shadows, even high-end ones. Overall the quality is fine, especially when you consider the price, but I just can't make a look out of trio that I love.

The Balm Nude'tude Eyeshadow Palette

I am so disappointed that this eyeshadow palette is included here. However, I honestly never reach for this palette and I'm always disappointed when I do try and use it. I have nothing against The Balm though! I think they're a great brand and their blushes are amazing!!! If you want a long lasting blush you should definitely check their blushes out. With or without primer the shadows don't apply very well, they don't last, they crease and with the colours included I struggle to make an eye look that I like. I've tried it both with my favourite eye primer (Too faced Shadow Insurance) and The Balm's own primer (Put a lid on it eyelid primer).

Maybelline Master Precise Curvy Liquid Eyeliner

I don't wear eyeliner often but I do like playing around with it and experimenting. My experiment with this one failed though. I just could not get a perfect look done on both eyes when using this. I'm not saying this is a bad product, it's just a product that I personally regret purchasing for me.

Bite Beauty Cafe/Pepper Lipstick Duo

I love Bite Beauty, their philosophy and they make beautiful lipsticks, However I really regret buying this mini duo. As the individual lipsticks are so small they snap easily and both ends of mine have been mushed together :-( I would never buy one of these lipstick duos again however I would buy their full-sized products. I like both of the shades included in this duo and would repurchase them.

Beauty Favourites | February 2017

I struggled to look back over the products I've loved throughout February, it seems like a really month and at the same time I have no idea how we're through with the second month of 2017. There are a lot of products I've used and loved this month BUT I have only included the products that I have loved AND used consistently throughout the whole month.

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation

Sometime last year this foundation was a favourite of mine. But as I love exploring new options, it eventually found itself un-used and shoved at the back of my drawer. I have started using this foundation again and really love it. The lasting powder is really good, especially when set with a power. It doesn't cling to any of my dry patches and

Sometime last year this foundation was a favourite of mine. But as I love exploring new products it eventually found itself shoved at the back of my drawer. I started using this foundation again and have remembered why I loved it so much! It lasts for a good amount of time, especially when set with a powder. It doesn't cling to my dry patches and gives my skin a nice texture and like the sticker on the bottle, it makes my skin look dewy + smooth.

Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream

I have always had rough and dry skin around my nails. I use hand cream but this cuticle cream from Burt's Bees has helped get rid off all that dry peeling skin. After using this nightly for around a week, my skin looked dramatically better. I highly recommend this cuticle cream!!!

Fanola Nutricare Shampoo*

Full disclosure, I received this product for review purposes. However my opinion is 100% honest and unscripted. First up, this shampoo gets bonus brownie points for it's scent - it's a very calming warm scent that is described on the label as "milky". I also detect caramel/vanilla scents, I think? I'm dreadful at identifying scents but I do know Inlove this scent! The shampoo is quite liquid-y and lathers nicely into my hair. It doesn't strip my hair or make my hair feel too squeaky clean after use but does make my hair feel clean. I would definitely considering purchasing this shampoo with my own money (you can buy it from https://amr.com.au)

Mecca Cosmetica Happy Hands Hydrating Hand Cream (Limited Edition)

First of all, I am really sorry this was a limited edition product from Christmas. However I am hoping that this hand cream reappears again, or perhaps there is also already a hand cream in the Mecca Cosmetica line? This hand cream makes me so happy! :) It smells divine, it reminds of a fancy hotel room??? and it really moisturises your hands well without leaving behind any residue. I don't need to mention the gorgeous rose gold packaging, do I?!?!?!

O.P.I 'Ducle De Leche' Nail Polish

I can't say no to a good pinky nude nail polish and in February 'Dulce De leech' from O.PI won my heart. I absolutely adore this shade and have re-applied it to my nails multiple times this month. I rarely reapply the same colour to my nails back-to-back however this polish is really perfect.

Milani Baked Blush 'Luminoso'

This blush gets so much hype and I do think it is deserves it. It gives your cheeks a healthy pinch of colour and a glow that is beautiful but not OTT. I also like this blush because it's easy to apply and you don't have to be too careful with it.

Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolour in 'Desert'

This is a brand new lipstick that Revlon just launched in February and I LOVE IT!!! The colour 'Desert' is my favourite type of lip shade, a warm pinky peach nude. You get great pigmentation, hydration and lasting power with these new lipsticks. You can expect a review of these on the blog soon.

New Maybelline products on Australian Shelves | February 2017

There has been a flood of new products landing on the shelves in Australian "drugstores". Today I am tackling all the new releases from Maybelline.

Maybelline have launched their Color jolt Intense Lip Paints. There are 8 shades which vary from nude to purple, so everybody should be able to find a colour they like. These remind me of the Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipsticks as they have similar sponge-tip applicators. I picked up the nude and the pink shade, so you can expect to see a review on those soon.

Maybelline have jumped on the cushion foundation bandwagon and now have a "dream cushion liquid compact foundation" available in 6 shade. My Chemist currently has 35% of Maybelline face products so if you're interested in trying it out, you could pop down there.

Maybelline have a double-ended contour/highlight jumbo crayon product and two new strobing sticks. The Master strobing sticks come in 100 light and 200 beige.

The Bricks Bronzer and Highlighter is also a new  product. It's the powder palette you can see below and includes a matte bronzer with a highlighter.

I hope you have enjoyed this post and let me know in the comments below what you are most excited about!

2016 Make-up Favourites

Happy New Year!!! 2016 has been and gone so it is time to talk about what products I loved in 2016. This is a huge post so let's skip the intro and get into the details...

Smashbox powder Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder

When I wandered into Mecca I wanted something that would my make-up lat longer and provide a bit of extra coverage. After receiving amazing customer service I walked out with this powder from Smashbox. And I absolutely love it! I was warned that with a heavy hand this could look a little cake and whilst that is true, it is avoidable. Instead of just having a tub of loose powder you "shave" the powder up into the accessible part of the tub which minimises wastage and helps you get only the amount of product you need.

Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation

2016 was the year of high-end foundation experimentation for me. I received a sample from Mecca after hearing mixed reviews but instantly fell in love and rushed back to buy the foundation after wearing the foundation for a handful of days. This foundation gives fantastic coverage, lasts really

Maybelline 'Rose Poudre' Nail Polish

In previous years I had different polishes on my nails every 3 days or so. In 2016 I started working full-time and my nail polish obsession faded away. Having said that I still love a good nail polish! 'Rose Poudre' is a gorgeous dusty pink colour that can be applied in one coat. It dries quickly and applies really easily, thanks to a great brush. I'm probably half-way through my current bottle and will definitely be repurchasing this polish.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

This mascara was actually in my 2015 beauty favourites but I thought it deserved to be in this post too. I have had this mascara in rotation all year and have repurchased it numerous times. The Lash Sensational does a really good job of separating and fanning out my lashes as well as adding volume without making them clumpy or gunky.

Mac Lipstick in 'Syrup'

This lipstick from MAC is literally going to become the first lipstick I have ever completely used up. I have the tiniest nib of product in the tube which I have reluctantly working towards using up. This is a fantastic lipstick to wear as it is perfect for any situation and time.

Mac Lipstick in 'Shy Shine'

'Shy Shine' is the more neutral and lazy day version of 'Syrup' which I just talked about. It's semi-sheer and quite shimmery so it will go with any look and can be easily applied on the go. I've seen it described as a warm coral but I was going to describe it as a nude-ish pink with a slight coral undertone to it? It is more shimmery than the typical lippy I wear but I absolutely adore it.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick 'Naked' (Cream)

In 2016 this was my "special" lipstick which I wore whenever I was going out. These lipsticks have amazing pigmentation, feel really creamy on the lips, don't dry out your lips and

Naked | Syrup | Shy Shine

Sally Hansen Complete Care 7-in-1 Nail Treatment

A good base coat is really important for a great looking manicure and healthy nails. This 7-in-1 nail treatment from Sally Hansen is a really good base coat. It dries very quickly and I have noticed my nails have been in much better condition since using this base coat.

Repurchased Lip Products

How can you tell if a lip product is really really really good? By how many times you've seen it in a favourites video on Youtube, by swatching it instore? To me, I know a lip product is really good if I am willing to spend my hard earned money on it not just once but twice. Today we are going to be looking at the only four lip products I have ever re-purchased. Before we get stuck into hard working lip products I would like to point out that I have excluded lip balms because I have repurchased a gazillion different lip balms. Let me know if you would like to see a post on my favourite lip balms.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in 'Honey'

The Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains were hyped about to the moon and back on Youtube when they were first released. I don't hear much about them anymore but I still think they are trustworthy products. I'm talking about a particular shade called 'Honey' which is - - - . Being in a lip crayon format you can swipe this across your lips wherever you are and you know your lips will be looking good. It won't have smeared itself across your face - always a good thing! It lasts well on the lips, doesn't dry your lips out and has good pigmentation. Once you get to the stage where it starting to dry down and wear off (aprox - - - hours) you can bring it back to life with a lip balm or clear gloss, or swipe some more on. It's a basic, hard-working and no fuss product.

Maybelline Colour Elixir in 'Caramel Infused' and 'Petal Plush'

When these were originally released I jumped on the bandwagon and adored these glosses. But make-up products do actually go off and they actually have "best before" deadlines printed on them. So a little while ago I did a declutter of my lip product and I tossed out three of these. I repurchased two of the shades I previously owned ('Petal Plush' and 'Caramel Infused') but did not repurchase 'Nude Illusion'. Although having said that, I think I will in the future. These have good pigmentation, feel lovely on the lips and last quite a while considering they are gloss.

Top left: Petal Plush Bottom Left: Caramel Infused From left to right: 235 Nude, Honey, Peach Lollipop

Maybelline Baby Lips Candy Wow in 'Peach Lollipop'

This is a great lip product for when you need something but not anything super special. It's a moisturising tinted lip balm. The pigmentation isn't super amazing but it gives your lips a bit of life - a peachy shade, needless to say.

L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in #235 'Nude'

I owned this lipstick quite a long time ago but my Mum fell in love with it so I let her have it. Earlier this year when My Chemist Warehouse has 50% off L'oreal I repurchased it. It's my perfect nude lipstick and even though the lasting power isn't amazing, it's still decent, and does what it needs to do.  I also love the packaging, the scent of the lipstick and how it feels on the lips.

Thanks for reading and let me know in the comments below what lip products you've repurchased.

June Beauty Favourites

There may not be a truckload of products here but I love love love them all so much.

Maybelline Colorsensational Matte Lipstick in 'Daringly Nude'

This lipstick is amazing. The shade is the perfect for me. Bold lips look great on other people but I never wear bold lips. Having said all of that, this is a gorgeous nude pink colour. The formula of this lippy is also really great and the lasting power is impressive. Expect a full review on the blog soon!

Clinique Liquid Facial Soap Mild

I have decided to spend more money on skincare and create an actual skincare routine. I have only been cleansing and moisturising once a day and never taking my make-up off before bed. In my search for the "perfect" skincare routine I picked up a sample of Clinique's Liquid Facial Soap. This is a really nice cleanser. It lathers well, doesn't dry your skin out and makes your skin feel nice and clean. I am definitely purchasing the full-size but it is 4x the cost of the cleanser I was using previously...

Rimmel London Magnif'eyes Mono Eyeshadow in 'Millionaire'

This eye shadow from Rimmel in ' Millionaire' is a really pretty colour and is perfect for work. When I don't really have time for eyeshadow before work but I go against my better judgement, this is the best eyeshadow to work. It lasts well over my Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer and adds a real good oomph to your eyes with minimal fuss.

Victorias Secret 'Pure Seduction'

When I smelt 'Pure Seduction' in the Victoria Secret store I loved it and so it came home with me. It's quite warm and fruity. I like it because it is slightly more heavy than the typical fruity scent. Delicious!

New Products on the Shelf in Australia

New products have hit the shelves in a big way. So lets skip the unnecessary ramble which I usually begin posts with and dig into all the new goodies! There are a lot of new products from Maybelline, Australis and two new limited edition collections from Essence.

When this foundation originally launched in America everybody on Youtube seemed to rave about it. I am definitely interested in giving this one a shot!

Australis have new cream blushes and lip glosses. I actually picked up one of the lip glosses and they are very thick. If you're not a fan of glosses this one might not be for you. The pigmentation was nice though! The blushes look gorgeous don't they?

The first limited edition collection from Essence that is currently on the Priceline shelves is 'Winter Wonderful'. Ignore the random matt touch blush...I don't think that is part of the new collection. BUT there is a gorgeous blush that is included in the collection, keep scrolling to see a pic. This range is beautiful! It includes 5 nail polishes, a blush, two lip oils, eyeshadow palette, hand cream, cajole eye liner and hair accessories.

I picked this blush up and since I have not owned it for 24 hours yet, I can't give a full review. But, having said that, I can say that it has really good pigmentation. I went a bit too heavy handed with it this morning! It gives the cheeks a lovely rosy flush.

The second limited edition from Essence is 'light of orient'. This collection included lots of deep and moody colours and is available at Target. The eyeshadow palette looks gorgeous and obviously lots of other people thought so too since it was sold out!

Essence also have some new products in their permanent collection:

What are you excited to see? Let me know in the comments what you want to pick up and what doesn't float your boat.

Top 4 Best Nail Polishes for Work

When you walk into a shop to buy nail polish you are faced with a billion choices. The bright colours are always eye-catching but not always work appropriate.

For work, nudes and pale pinks are a safe option. I don't know if it is only me but I find it very hard to find a pale pink nail polish with a good formula - for me they are notoriously bad. If you do want a pale pink I would recommend 'Bare' from Sinful Colours. 'Bare' is a pale pink nude with micro-shimmer. For a full review on this polish click here.

The Maybelline Superstay Gel Nail Colour polish in 'Rose Poudre' could possibly be my favourite nail polish ever (I cannot believe I said that, pretty serious for somebody with 200+ polishes!). 'Rose Poudre' is a dusty pale pink. With two thin coats the polish dries quickly and looks stunning. Perfect for anybody and anywhere.

'All eyes on nudes' from Essie is a matte nail polish however I always put a glossy top coat over it. This is a great basic nude polish, there is no hint of pink here, it is a creamy beige. The formula isn't the best but the colour is great. If you have a little bit of patience when applying it and put a glossy top coat on it, it is a fabulous every day work polish.

'All tied up' from Essie is a stronger pink polish with shimmer. Out of all the polishes I've talked about here this one is definitely the least neutral. It's a darker dusty rosy pink with gold shimmer. Super pretty! For a full review of this polish, click here.

+Bonus Polish -Face of Australia Screen Siren Limited Edition 'Monroe' -  Okay so I didn't want to include this in the top 4 because it is no longer sold. But having said that, if anybody knows of a dupe please let me know! It's definitely one of my favourite ever polishes!!! The perfect nude with a slight pink undertone.

Shopping the stash | Forgotten products I want to use this week #1

I'll be the first to admit I have too much make-up. Not that it stops me from buying more, although it should. The blog is the perfect excuse and is used as a justification 99.99% of the time. This first problem leads to a second problem. I forget about products and quietly they sit in the drawer never being used. This week I am going to change all that and start rounding up some forgotten products / shopping the "stash" each Sunday evening for the following week.

I hope you enjoy this new series and without further ado lets take a look at the products I want to use this week.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour blush in 'fanciful'

I actually haven't owned this blush for that long but I do think I need some prompting to make sure it is a blush I reach for frequently. 'Fanciful' is a gorgeous matte warm dusty rose.

 L'oreal le blush in 'rosewood'

Another blush! This one is a even more recent addition to my blush collection than Fanciful. However, once again I want to make sure I start immediately using it otherwise it will never get used.

Essence Silky Touch Blush in 'babydoll'

Another blush, I hope you're not getting bored of blushes! This one is another gem I need to use more often. 'Babydoll' is a soft pink rose colour. The pigmentation is really good and it applies beautifully.

Maybelline Colordrama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil in 'Minimalist'

I wore this all the time maybe eight months ago, from memory the pigmentation and lasting power of these lip pencils from Maybelline are great. Plus 'Minimalist' is a very pretty pink. The one downfall of these is that you have to sharpen them.

Bite Beauty Pepper / Cafe

I am constantly forgetting about and then re-discovering this lipstick duo because it sits awkwardly in my lipstick holder. It's technically called the 'mix and mingle - cafe/pepper' from Bite. I really like this however for $27.00 it is tiny. I mean tiny. You get 3.1g or 1.55g per colour. The colours are beautiful so I really should remember to grab for this more.

Clinique chubby stick intense in ' curviest caramel'

I was so desperate to purchase this but have barely reached for it. Why? I have no idea at all. I definitely need to wear this gorgeous lip crayon more!!! That is the whole point of this new series :) This is a gorgeous everyday lip product and I can't wait to use it!

Covergirl 'Country Woods' trio

This has been sitting in my drawer for years. I originally brought it because I thought it looked like a "classic" product. The colours are all very easy to wear during the week for a quick look. If you have a favourite "classic" beauty product please do let me know in the comments below :)

Nyx Lip Primer in 'Deep Nude'

Lipsticks never ever stay on long enough, no matter what lipstick it is...I feel like after 3 hours it's gone :( Hopefully this lip primer from Nyx will help!!! I've never tried a lip primer before.

Beauty Products Not Hyped About Enough

Nyx Love in Paris 'Merci Beaucoup' Eyeshadow Palette

The 'Merci Beaucoup' palette from Nyx is one of my all time favourite eyeshadow products from the "drugstore". The main reason why I love this palette is the colour range. You can create a great basic look or by pulling in some of the beautiful pinks, you can also have a pop of colour. The one drawback of this palette is that it doesn't last all day. If you want these shadows to last longer than 4-5  hours you will need to use a primer. With a primer they last for ages.

Maybelline Master Hi-Light Blush in 'Pink Rose'

The Master Hi-Light blush from Maybelline in 'Pink Rose' is a gorgeous pink blush that will suit many people. The blush itself is quite illuminating however there are no visible chunky glitters which makes this blush foolproof. You can build up the pigmentation of the blush easily and the added glow it gives is gorgeous and natural.

Revlon Powder Blush on 'Melon-Drama'

'Melon-drama'  from Revlon is a pinky peach powder blush. 'Melon-drama' gives my face a really good dose of healthy colour without looking over the top. The blush is very buildable pigmentation wise and lasts quite well.

Multi-task Real Techniques Brush

Every man and his dog raves about the Real Techniques brushes and there are genuine reasons why: they are great quality, last for years, don't shed and do a lovely job at getting the make-up where you want it! The Multi-task brush is my favourite make-up brush because it applies blush really well and can also be used for powder. I have had this brush for a minimum of 2 years and it still looks brand new, no shedding at all. The only negative thing I have to say about the multi-task brush is that it comes in a kit. I wish I had more than one of these brushes but I don't necessarily want to buy the whole kit everytime I want one of these. It comes in the Travel Essentials kit with a foundation brush and a domed shadow brush. Both of those brushes are great and the domed shadow brush is my favourite eye brush so if you want a couple of great basic brushes buy the kit.

Maybelline Colorshow Crayon Kohl Eyeliner in 'Black'

I'm not an eye-liner expert and I don't wear it every day so keep that in mind whilst I tell you why I love this eyeliner from Maybelline. As I said, I have zero eyeliner skills but because this eyeliner is quite dry and similar to your typical pencil I can get a decent line that is quite thin. Once applied it doesn't smudge or transfer and it lasts well. If you are wanting to do something more than a basic line, you might not love this one but if you are an eyeliner beginner, I highly recommend this. Talking about recommendations...leave a comment below if you want to tell me about an eyeliner you think I might love!

January Beauty Favourites + Blog Update

These are the products I loved using the most during January...

Before we get into the post I want to first give you a quick update about the blog. It is no secret that I didn't blog much during 2015 however I am jumping back onto the blogging bandwagon and will be dedicating a lot more time to Beautiful Living in 2016. I am super excited to have my enthusiasm back for blogging and hope you continue to enjoy Beautiful Living

Maybelline Baby Skin Primer

This primer received so much hype when it was first released in the US a very long time ago. People were shouting from the rooftops that it was similar to Benefit's Porefessional. Whilst I have never used the Porefessional I can say that I am loving this primer. It makes my skin feel very smooth and makes my make-up go on flawlessly. I am also pretty sure it prolongs the wear of my make-up, however I am still messing around with it so I will report back in a full review once I am 100% sure.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

This mascara has been included in my 'monthly favourites' post before and there is a good reason it is re-appearing here. Whenever I want my lashes to be 10% amazing I reach for this mascara. It easily separates my lashes, doesn't clump and makes my lashes look dramatic without a fuss.

Maybelline The Falsies Mascara

The Falsies is another great mascara from Maybelline that I have recently fell in love with. The formula of this one is less wet than Lash Sensational, so I feel like this one is a little easier to apply. It is definitely a mascara worth checking out.

Bare Minerals Moxie Lipstick in 'Get Ready'

Silly as it may be I could spend sentences talking about how cool the packaging is on the lipstick. But I probably shouldn't so lets talk about the actual lipstick, hey? This is a stunning "my lips but better" shade with a berry undertone. This lipstick has great pigmentation and is creamy. If I don't want it to be as bold as it is normally I put it over some Lucas papaw. Beautiful!

L'oreal Color Riche Eye Colour Pencil in 'Delicate Beige'

This cream eye shadow pencil is beautiful. 'Delicate Bridge' is a champagne-y shimmer shade. This is a very easy shade to apply onto the lid and hey presto that's all you need to do before leaving the house.

Lucas' Papaw Ointment

So if you are Aussie you will know this iconic product...which according to the tube is a "local topical application for minor burns and scalds, sunburn, gravel rash, cuts and minor open wounds, insect bites, splinters and nappy rush". But I think we basically say that we pull the tub out for many many many things. I love using this as a lip balm. I just recently re-purchased this after not using it for a couple of years and they now have a tube with a lip applicator which is sooo good! I don't know why it took me so long to buy this again because I'm loving it!

Thanks for reading and have a lovely day :)

4 Spring-like Beauty Products

Spring is here, the sun is starting to shine and you can now brave the outdoors without wearing a zillion layers. Well at least some of the time... To celebrate I wanted to write a blog post about some products that are perfect for this time of year. It's still too cold to break out the summer dresses but we can get into the spring mood with our make-up at least! Step one, think pink. Step two, step outside and soak up the sunshine.

Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in 'Magnolia'

This is a peachy pink that I think is perfect for any occasion. It's a good alternative for a nude or 'my lips but better shade'. I have been reaching for the lipstick a lot lately: it's a fun colour,  isn't as boring as a nude and looks great all the time. The pigmentation is pretty good, the formula is lightweight and super creamy and the lasting power is the typical 1-2 hours. It is really comfortable and feels moisturising. It also smells really nice and sweet.

Maybelline 'Pink Me Up' Lipstick

'Pink Me Up' is a deep warm-toned pink that sits on the line between a 'bold lip' and a 'not so bold' lip - which I love because I don't like wearing bold lips. They look great on other people...just not me! This a gorgeous pink shade that I fell in love with the first time I wore it. It would be great for an evening out or with a natural smokey eye. Maybelline's lipstick formula is becoming one of my favourites and is definitely worth checking out.

Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquer in 'Petalite'

A new addition to Revlon's product line are these 'Ultra HD Lip Lacquers'. Expect a full review on my blog soon but meanwhile I will focus on this pretty shade called 'Petalite'. 'Petalite' is a pretty pale pink with gold shimmer. It's a pretty standard gloss - doesn't stick around for ages and isn't super pigmented BUT it is one of those glosses that you can just whack on and you're ready to go. A good shade to reach for when you want a natural looking pink lip.

OPI Nailpolish in 'Hands Off My Kielbasa'

I know this whole post has been brainwashing you to "think pink" but this nail polish leans more towards the orange-y coral side of things. But because it screams "spring" to me it had to be included. This is a super pretty peachy polish with shimmer. I feel like the polish is glowing from within - does that make sense? Gorgeous!!! It's currently on my nails and it's soooooooo pretty and really shimmery! Did I use the word 'pretty' too much whilst describing this polish?

August Favourites

This month I have tried to mix up the products a bit and I have some new favourite products - yay!!!

Lets begin with a new foundation that I tried for the first time this month and now rate very highly - Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth Foundation in '115 Ivory'. I haven't had the best of luck with Maybelline foundations but during the 50% off sale this foundation came down to the $10 mark so I figured I might as well give it a shot. This foundation surprised me, it is really really really good. I will be posting a full review of this foundation soon but here are they key points. Pros: Very liquid-y formula, medium buildable coverage, easy to apply, doesn't cling to my dry patches. Cons: Not super long lasting, no pump in the package :(

Another Maybelline product - Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. I wrote up a full review of this mascara the other day, click here to check it out. Overall this is a great mascara if you like a mascara that has a very wet formula and if you want your lashes to look bold and fanned out.

Onto the lip products...because we all know I am a lipstick/lipbalm/lipgloss addict!

Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in 'Magnolia' is a lipstick that I have been wearing in anticipation of spring. To me this shade screams out "spring is coming". The formula is really nice and creamy but feels lightweight at the same time. The pigmentation is decent - not super opaque but by no means sheer. I don't think this lipstick lasts that long - a little over an hour before it begins to fade.

Nyx Butter Gloss in 'Angel Food Cake' is a yummy smelling lip gloss that is not sticky and has great pigmentation. 'Angel Food Cake' is a gorgeous deep "my lips but better" shade with undertones of dusty pink and mauve. Well at least I think thats how you would describe it? I have been loving this gloss as it doesn't dry your lips out which is perfect because my lips are dry at the moment (thanks winter).

And now for one random non-beauty favourite :)

Silver 'Bead and Tassel Bracelet' from Seed - I only picked this up the other day but I am obsessed with it. Especially when I wear it with another bracelet I have from Bevilles (the second one in the picture).

What have you been loving this August?

Thanks for reading and have a great day!!! :)
