January Beauty Favourites

As the first month of 2015 bites the dust it is time to tell you about everything I loved in January.

I always make a trip to Lush after Christmas as they always reduce their limited edition Christmas products by 50%. This year I picked the Hot Toddy Shower Gel up and I love it! It has a cinnamon-y ginger scent that is really warm and quite strong. It lathers up nicely and leaves you feeling clean but not dry. I will definitely be buying the larger size of this shower gel next year, fingers crossed they release it again!

I have been wearing the Olay Complete UV Max Defence Lotion SPF 30 religiously, underneath my make up, for the past couple of months. A moisturiser with SPF is really important. It hasn't caused me to break out and it is a really decent moisturiser. Not the best but as it has the SPF that is fine with me. Also, it doesn't interfere with the wear of my makeup and doesn't leave any nasty residue.

Marc Jacobs Dot has been my go to perfume of the month. I am useless at describing scents so I googled it and apparently it is floral and fruity. It isn't a super heavy or long lasting scent but nonetheless I love how this perfume smells.

I have been using the Yes to Carrots Daily Cream Facial Cleanser for quite awhile now and I haven't had any pimples since beginning to use it. Not only has my skin been clear but it lathers up nicely and feels really gentle. It may not be the best for people with super dry skin though?

I hope you a fabulous February :)

Product Review: Lip Scrub by Lush

For people who read my blog regularly, this will be old news. But I have recently been trying out different lip balms because now that it is well and truly winter my lips have been dry. I have been alternating between Yes To Carrots, Nivea Lip Care and Lush's Ultrabalm. And I have to say that I have generally been disappointed. This got me thinking, maybe it was time for me to use my 'lip scrub' again!

So yes, that is what this review is actually going to focus on!!!! Hahaha, sorry for my ramblings :)

What does the product claim to do?
According to the website the lip scrub keeps your lips moist and exfoliates your lips.
What does the product actually do?
I am happy to report that this lip scrub does exfoliate your lips and it doesn't 'dry' your lips out but I always end up putting balm on my lips afterwards anyway so not sure if it is super moisturising.
How to use this product?
This product is really easy to use. You just put some of the sugar onto your finger and rub it across your lips. I do a bit of a circular motion as well as going side-to-side but there is no special technique required. I use it once a week and I get instant results which is fantastic!
Would I recommend this product to you?
Yes!!! I really love this product because lips are something you cannot hide so they have to look good. Also, I find this lip scrub very useful in that some lipsticks often sink into the cracks in your lips and look terrible on dry lips. This totally prevents this from happening which is awesome! I have also generally found that by using this product my lips feel better when using lip balms, it makes lip balms work better, which is great since it is winter.....

Summary
An amazing product made in Australia that is a super easy and quick way to exfoliate your lips and get rid of all that yucky dead skin! Within 1 minute your lips will feel brand new again. A product that truly does what it says on the label (which is something quite rare!) and won't hurt your bank balance either. A definite favourite of mine.

Hope this review was useful!

Top 5 products under $10 July

The title of this post is pretty self-explanatory, I am going to show you my top 5 products all available for under $10 for the month of July :)
I hope you enjoy this new kind of post, let me know in the comments section please :) There is no word-verification required so it should now be a lot easier to comment.

1. Lush Ultrabalm $7.95 - admittedly I have only had this product for two days but I am already falling head over heels in love with this balm. I will post a review after I have used it for a bit longer. First impressions is that it is a soothing and moisturising balm that can be applied dry and chapped skin.

2. Nivea's Lip care Honey & Milk $3.95 - yep another lip balm!

3. OmShe nail polish $9.95 - it's free from nasty chemicals and made in Australia.

4. Essence's mattifying compact powder - I decided I wanted to experiment with some compact powder because whenever I see my self in photos my face seems really shiny. Plus, I heard that compact powder might help my foundation stay on for longer (yes I use primer too).

5.  Face of Australia acetone free nail polish remover $3.99 - a polish addict needs a good nail polish remover. This is what I am currently using.

*Please note that the prices above are estimates. Whilst I cannot remember the precise cost of every single item listed they were all under $10 and even though some items were on sale they are all below $10 even before discounts*
