I first used Rimmel's 'Black Out' and did two coats. For the matte top coat I used some sticky tape to divide my middle finger diagonally, one side being matte and the other side not matte. For my index finger I painted it matte all over and left my ring finger normal, without the matte top coat, for comparison.
Long story cut short, it did not work and I am very disappointed in how this turned out. Not only did it just not look that prominent but after only a few hours the matte seemed to disappear and fade away. It is still kind of there, but barely. And I experienced tip wear after 2 hours of wearing it by just surfing the internet and going on facebook (nothing heavy duty like typing an essay or something).
Here are the photos. I apologise for this boring and bland post but I'm just really disappointed. I didn't even clean away the excess polish sorry!
Lets hope tomorrow's grey nails go better :)
Cheers
I actually like the idea of having only part of the nail matte... I think it's pretty cool actually. Maybe your matte coat isn't all the great... I've never had a matte coat wear off like that, but I can definitely see it in your pictures. Weird!
ReplyDeleteFor grey, I'm going to try a water marble... Wish me luck!
Your water marbe idea sound cool, GOODLUCK!!!
ReplyDeleteFunny you mention marbling because I was literally at the shops an hour ago and saw a marbling kit at Target by the brand 'essence'. I was going to buy it but didn't.....trying to save money after my rather large haul of nail polish on the weekend.
Thanks for commenting.
Cheers :)
I dislike it when nailpolish chips and smudges, ahhh I had a disaster when painting my nails for the red day challenge, I did it quickly before heading out= disaster lol.
ReplyDeleteawww how irritating! Hate it when that happens :/
